LinkedIn Page Admin Access: Add an Agency Without Sharing Your Login

Give a marketer or agency the right LinkedIn Page role without sharing a password. Follow the official admin steps and keep ownership in-house.

When a marketer or agency needs to work on your LinkedIn Company Page, sharing your personal LinkedIn password is the wrong starting point. LinkedIn provides Page roles so an individual can be given the access needed for publishing or reporting while your business retains control. The best role depends on the work—not on how trusted the agency sounds.

Choose the job before the role

A super admin can manage the Page and its admins. A content admin can create and manage Page content. An analyst is for people who need to review performance rather than publish. LinkedIn also separates paid-media admin roles. Check LinkedIn's current Page admin role guidance before granting access, because interfaces and capabilities can change.

For a freelancer writing posts, content admin is usually more proportionate than super admin. For an external reporting consultant, analyst may be enough. If the agency is managing ads, discuss the paid-media role and Campaign Manager permissions separately. Do not add an outsider as super admin just because they say it makes onboarding easier.

How the Page owner adds an admin

LinkedIn's official add-admin instructions say that a current super admin should open the Page in super-admin view, select Settings → Manage admins, choose Page admins or Paid media admins, then Add admin. Search the person's profile, select the appropriate role, and save. The person needs to be a first-, second-, or third-degree connection and follow the Page; blocks or account restrictions can prevent selection.

Use the specific employee's real LinkedIn account, not a shared “marketing” login. Confirm the name and profile before saving. Then ask the new admin to verify the intended Page appears in their admin view and that they can perform only the agreed tasks. The business should keep at least one current, trusted internal super admin, and review the admin list when employees or agencies leave.

Troubleshooting the missing button or missing person

If Add admin is absent, first check whether you are a super admin. Posting access is not the same as the ability to change Page permissions. Ask the existing super admin to add the person, or use LinkedIn's official access-request route if no authorized super admin is available. Do not send passwords or verification codes to “fix” the missing button.

If the person is not in search results, verify that their profile follows the Page and is within the connection range LinkedIn requires. Check that neither side blocked the other. Search the exact profile rather than a common name. Do not create a duplicate personal account to work around an access problem.

A practical agency access agreement

Before granting a role, write down which Page the agency will manage, who will have access, whether they may publish without approval, whether they may reply to messages, and who owns creative assets and reporting. A monthly review of admins is a simple control. When the engagement ends, remove the external role and verify that scheduled content and ad access are handled separately.

If your real goal is more followers, admin access is only the operating setup. A better growth plan identifies the buyers you want, the topics that prompt useful conversations, and the leads or enquiries that matter. Frequently asked questions

Does an agency need my LinkedIn login to post as my Page?

No. Use LinkedIn's Page admin roles for authorized work. Never share your password, one-time code, recovery method or session.

Can a content admin add more admins?

LinkedIn's current instructions require a super admin to add Page admins. Keep that authority with the business unless there is a specific, documented reason to delegate it.

Is LinkedIn Page access the same as Campaign Manager access?

No. Page roles and paid-media permissions are distinct. Verify both separately if the agency also runs ads.
